The Umina Beach Booknook has been around for a while, in 2005 a group of ladies bought the old newspaper store and turned it into “Book Bazar”. However after a slow decline in business in 2024 it was bought by the current owner Kate Toon, who re-branded it into The Umina Beach Book Nook. Since then she has moved across the road and built up the store again.
This event was celebrating the completion of the new location’s renovations. The people involved in supporting the store and Kate, as well as those who offered free labour to complete the renovations, where all invited to this event to celebrate the achievement. It was a privilege playing for all who came, and I hope to play there again soon.
